When you use a treadmill, fitness becomes a trackable, variable, attainable goal. Many people enjoy walking and running for exercise, and both have been shown to offer a great cardiovascular workout. There are some problems with walking and running for fitness, though; most of these problems can be solved by using a treadmill, which takes all the major advantages of walking and running, removes many of the disadvantages, and leaves the tools to determine how effective the workout was.
